Year 6 - Farnham Primary School : Farnham Primary School

Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog!

This week in Year 6

English

Archives Discovery - A World War One Letter | Blog | Friends of Lancashire Archives

In English we have been learning all about the letters that soldiers used to send home in WW1. We have shared some real WW1 letters together and written in role as a soldier in the trenches, who was writing home to his mother.

Maths

Fractions - Tricky Bits & Misunderstandings

This week, we have learned how to add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers, including fractions where the denominators are not the same. We have worked hard and we are becoming confident!

RE

Sisters of Mercy — Holy Angels

In RE, we have shared hymns inspired by the Magnificat together. We have also explored how some women, inspired by Mary's 'yes' to God, may be inspired to become nuns. We researched about the Holy Order 'Sisters of Mercy'.

Topic

In My Happy Mind, we have continued to learn all about our brains. We have learned how we might have positive or negative thoughts about our upcoming transition to High School. We decided which thoughts were facts and how we would act in response to them.

In Geography, we completed our Mountains topic by researching one of the seven summits. We created some amazing fact files and worked hard to find out as many interesting facts as we could about our mountain!

In Computing, we continued our work on Tinkercad and learned how to manipulate 3D shapes by changing their colour and size.
