Y6 Blog - Friday 4th April 2025
Date: 3rd Apr 2025 @ 7:57am
Welcome to the Year 6 weekly blog.
This week in Year 6
English
In English we have been revising punctuation. We have also been inspired by the prologue of 'Wild Boy' to write a description of the showman which includes setting, character and atmosphere.
Maths
This week, we have revised and reasoned with our key angles facts! We have also learned how to reason with 3D shape and how to calculate the internal angles of a regular polygon.
RE
In RE, we have shared the story of Jesus' crucifixion and thought carefully about what true discipleship means; how can we be a true disciple of Jesus? We have also reflected on what 'love your neighbour' means and discussed how we can show love for our neighbour at home, in school and in the community.
Topic
For Computing, we learned about how websites have links to pages within them and how to link to pages on our own websites.
We have also learned about Victorian prisons in our 'Crime and Punishment' unit. Did you know that inmates were made to do hard labour as a punishment?
Please complete the following tasks by Wednesday 23/04/25:
Reading - Use your home reading to read every night for 30 minutes. You also have a reading diary that must be used for the title of the book and any challenges chosen.
Books may be changed on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.
Spelling -
Spellings this week are from the Y5/Y6 and the Y3/Y4 statutory spellings.
We will have our test on the 25/04/25
It is useful to write the words down on the spelling sheet, but you could also ask someone to call the words out and spell them out loud. Other ideas include, breaking the words up and writing them down in different colours (accommodate). You could look for words within words (accompany) or think of your own ways to remember the word, for example, spell it aloud using a mnemonic or tune.
