Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 12:44pm

Welcome to your Friday blog!

We've had a very busy week this week!

Home Practice

Sumdog challenges

Maths - Number line to 20

Phonics - Sounds learnt this week.

Counting - We have been practising counting from 0 to 40, forwards and backwards. Please practise this at home!

Reading - Please try to read each night, it makes a big difference!

Please remember to bring book bags in each day.

English

We read a different version of The Princess and the Pea - The Princess and the Greedy Pea! We predicted what could happen in the story, made a menu for the greedy pea, explored different rhyming words and wrote our own poem, deciding what the greedy pea could eat next!

Phonics

Some of us have been comparing the oa sounds: oa in oak, o_e in stone, ow in grow and oe in toe

Some of us have continued to learn the different ai spellings: a in acorn and ea in great.

Maths

We have been counting in twos and fives and placing missing numbers on a number line.

R.E.

We recapped the story of Jesus entering Jersusalem. We ordered the story and recorded videos of ourselves saying the story.

History

We learnt about a different nurse this week, who like Florence Nightingale, changed hospitals for the better. We read about Edith Cavell and how she helped soldiers in the war. We wrote some amazing facts about her and compared her to Florence.

Science

We went on a Spring walk around school. We spotted new flowers and wildlife.

P.E.

We challenged ourselves to throw and catch through hoops this week. We had to listen to our partner in order to make the throwing easier or harder.

Art

We painted watercolour pictures ready for our Mother's Day assembly.

Forest School

We worked in the nature area. We had a go at building shelters using tarps, ropes, pegs and mats. Great teamwork and co-operation was shown. We are noticing all the changes in our nature area, new leaves, new buds, and it's warmer!

Freddy Fit

We had so much fun with Freddy on Wednesday! We worked brilliantly in our teams.

See our pictures here.

Library

We walked down to the library and listened to three Easter stories. We also made our own bunnies to take home.

Japanese students

A big thank you to Haruka and Yuichi who have been with us for two weeks. The Japanese students set up Japanese games for us to play in the classroom.
