Date: 30th Jun 2022 @ 9:47am
Welcome to your Friday blog!
English
This week we read some more books in The Lighthouse Keeper series. We started to write our own version of the story about the lunch. We changed some parts of the story. We are going to read our books to the children in Year 2 when we have finished them.
Practice your trigraphs. Click here for songs.
Maths
We have been learning how to bridge through 10 when adding. For example when adding 8+8 we can show this as 8+2+6 as this uses our knowledge of number bonds of 10.

PSHE
We have been learning about how we change as we grow. We talked about what babies can do and what we can now do. We talked about what babies need to grow and how our families help us. We also talked about how families are different and the things they have in common.
PE
We continued to develop our throwing and catching skills. We had a go at applying these skills in some small team games.
French
We learned some words to do with the beach. We practised them with a game, song and a story.
Music
This week, we began to learn how to play the glocks. We used a beater for the first time and played a song together. Mrs Winter was so proud of how sensible we all were!
Geography
We looked at the animals which live in hot and cold countries. We matched the animals to their climate and answered questions about their habitat.
RE
We explored how to be kind to each other and how to love one another. We are very good at this! We also looked at saying sorry to others if we do not make a good choice. We related this learning back to last week and the stories of Levi and Zacchaeus.
Outdoor Learning
With our volunteer helper we did some gardening. We weeded the big planters and talked about the types of plants which were growing in them.
Thank you to everyone who visited us on the open morning. The children loved you looking at their classroom and seeing them in action inside and outside!
The children are looking forward to spending time in their new classrooms with their new teachers next week.
