We have enjoyed learning through another story about the lighthouse keeper Mr Grinling, his wife and their cat, Hamish. We designed a new menu for Mr Grinling's lunch and labelled it.
Some of us wrote some detailed instructions on how to make a mustard sandwich as Mrs Grinling tried to scare off the seagulls with mustard sandwiches. We then made our own sandwiches and put them outside for any sneaky seagulls on the school grounds!
Phonics
We have been revising the phase 5 sounds.
Maths
This week we have been using part whole models to demonstrate our understanding of addition and subtraction. We have solved some tricky missing number problem questions and have written fact family number sentences.
R.E.
We continued to learn about being a good neighbour. We read about Raphael, a boy who lives in Uganda. We explained how he was being a good neighbour to the people in his community and then wrote about someone who is a good neighbour to us.
D.T.
We have started to learn how to sew. We explored different joining techniques (using glue, staples, sewing and split pins) before having a go at producing our own running stitch. This was quite tricky but we were very resilient!
Draw Along
We had a very exciting drawing lesson via Zoom. We all investigated different marks we could make with our sketching pencil. We looked very closely at a piece of art by Vinvent Van Gogh and tried to make marks like him.
Forest School
This week we chose our own learning. We demonstrated all the skills we have learnt this year.
Moving up mornings
We had a great time in our new Year 2 classroom.
