Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (22.11.24):
every great break steak pretty
beautiful after fast last past
Sumdog: Complete the statistics challenge.
Counting: At home, count in 2's, 5's and 10's forwards and backwards. See how they relate to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Follow the link below to play 'Hit The Button' and practise those times tables.

English
This week we read the next book in the trilogy, The Bear, the Piano, the Dog and the Fiddle also by David Litchfield. The children wrote their own versions of The Bear and the Piano story. Everyone is trying so hard to make their writing look beautiful on the page. We are also thinking about ourselves as authors and we discussed how to make our stories interesting and exciting.
Phonics
We have been revising oa as in goat and ow as in shadow.
SPaG
We learnt more about the different types of sentences and wrote some of our own statements, commands, questions and exclamations.
Maths
We learnt how to interpret block graphs and pictograms. We made our own graphs and also learnt how to record amounts using a tally chart.
We have been singing songs to help us learn our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
Science
Forest School
We used the gardening tools safely. We had great fun with all the leaves. Our games showed great imagination and teamwork.
R.E.
We learnt about some Prophets from the Bible, such as Noah and Isaiah and what they did for God.
The children produced lovely work in their books in response to this.
History/Art
On Remembrance Day, year 2 made their own poppies to help us remember those who fought in the wars.
My Happy Mind
We learnt about what happens to our brains when we are happy and also when we might be feeling sad/worried. The children practised their happy breathing, which helps the brain to function fully, so we are content and ready for learning.
This week we all enjoyed our session with Freddy Fit. He really put us through our paces!
Everyone looked briliant in their Children In Need outfits. Thank you for supporting this.
