Year 2

Welcome to your Friday Blog.

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling:

Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (21.03.25):

easily         quickly       sadly        strangely       cleverly        luckily         happily       quietly        busily        coldly

Sumdog:

Sumdog have just launched a new fluency booster that is automatically available when your child signs into the app.
For your challenge this week work on the new fluency booster.

Counting:

Starting at zero, count in twos forwards and backwards to 100.

Play the 'follow me' game where one person says the multiple of two and the other person says the next multiple of two. Continue like this, then try to go faster!

Times Tables:

Great work on your 10 Division Facts.

Next week, Thursday (20.03.25) we will quiz your knowledge of the 10 division facts in a muddled order.

Manfred the Baddie

English

We finished our learning through the story of Manfred The Baddie. We wrote questions for a quiz to see how well we knew the book. We wrote a poster to try and find the missing scientist after he was kidnapped. We finished designing our diabolical machines and wrote a description about how they worked.

SPaG

We learnt about how to use the suffix ly.Nice becomes nicely, terrible becomes terribly.

Maths

We have been learning how to measure mass and capacity. We practised reading scales.

My Happy Mind

We finished our learning about being grateful. We designed our own poster.

Forest School

We planted the remaining seeds from last week.

We worked in the log circle area.

We spotted buds starting to appear.

Science

Some of the seeds we planted last week have started to grow and we can see the shoots appearing. We know that in the other pots there will be growing happening from the time-lapse videos we have watched, we just can't see it yet!

We recorded what we observed in our growing diary.

Freddy Fit

Everyone had a great time keeping fit with Freddy. He also talked to us about healthy eating and getting enough sleep.

Golden Assembly

We had a brilliant assembly. We all joined in with a dance which the students from Japan taught us.

We also watched some former pupils perform Irish dancing to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

We said goodbye to Yuichi and his students at the end of their two weeks in school.
