This week in Year 2

English

This week we continued to read our novel 'Fantastic Mr Fox' by Roald Dahl. We described the characters and learnt about speech. We also also wrote brilliant speech bubbles for how Mr Fox was feeling.

Maths

This week we started our new topic about time. We learnt about minutes past the hour by counting in fives.

RE

We have written about people who help in our community. We all wrote about these people and we discussedthe importance of food banks, shelters and care homes.

Forest School

We learnt about the summer solstice. During the summer solstice, the earth's axis is tilted at its closest point from the sun. This means that in the northern hemisphere, the sun is at its highest point in the sky. It's also the longest day of the year - and the shortest night. This day falls on Saturday 22nd June. We made forest eyes using yarns, beads and wool in sunny colours.

Science

We learnt about the life cycle of a bean plant.

Geograpghy

We identified the similarities and differences between rivers in Zambia compared to rivers in England.
