Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (29.11.24):

father     pass      class       grass       path

hour      prove      plant        bath           move

Sumdog: Complete the fractions challenge.

Counting: At home, count in 2's, 5's and 10's forwards and backwards. See how they relate to the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

Follow the link below to play 'Hit The Button' and practise those times tables.

The Little Story Who Didn't Want To Be Told

English

This week we continued our learning from The Little Story Who Didn't Want To Be Told.

We have been learning how to use different joining words to extend our sentences.

We wrote our own story about a crocodile.

Phonics

We continued to revise the long o sound.

Maths

We used practical equipment to find halves and quarters of amounts. We know that the groups have to be EQUAL.

We have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and discussing how this relates to the times tables.

Science

We learnt about how humans change as they grow into adults.

We also discussed the life cycle of a butterfly.

PSHE

  • We learnt how to recognise and explain how a person's behaviour can affect other people.
  • We acted out a short play.

My Happy Mind

My Happy Mind | Christ Church CE (VC) Primary School

The children learned about neuroplasticity and how our brains grow when we practise things like spellings/times tables and it becomes easier the more we try.

R.E

The children recapped the Nativity story, found out more about when the Angel Gabriel visited Mary and drew some lovely pictures for our display.

We have been so excited to learn all the songs for our Nativity. Don't forget it's on Tuesday 10th December in church at 2pm and 6.30pm.
