St Oswald's Catholic Primary School: Our blogs

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!

Spelling:

There will be no spellings to learn over the holiday.

Sumdog:

Work on the new fluency booster.

Counting:

Starting at zero, count in twos forwards and backwards to 100.

Play the 'follow me' game where one person says the multiple of two and the other person says the next multiple of two.

Continue like this, then try to go faster!

Remember when we multiply by 2 we double the number and when we divide by 2 we halve the number!

10 Things You May Not Know About the Easter Bunny

English

The children wrote some great Easter shape poems (bunnies, eggs and crosses) and tried to use alliteration and similes.

Maths

We learned how to add 2 digit numbers by exchanging, for example,26 + 37, the 7 and 6 can be exchanged for 1 ten and 3 ones, which makes the addition easier.

We are continuing to learn our 2,5 and 10 times tables.

9 Children's Easter Books To Tell The Story of Jesus

R.E.

The children learnt about the Resurrection and wrote about finding Jesus' empty tomb from the perspective of Mary Magdalene, Joanna or Mary the mother of James.
