It's great to have everyone back in class after the Easter holiday and you all look so smart in your summer uniforms!

Home Practice

Reading:

In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book.

This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark!

Spelling:

Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (02.05.25):

Starting at 100 or 50, count back in fives.

Continue like this, then try to go faster!

Times Tables:

Great work on your 5 Times Tables.

Next week, Thursday (01.05.25) we will quiz your knowledge of division facts for 5 in order.

English

We started our new learning through a book called "Lila and the Secret of Rain".

Lila lives in a Kenyan village where it hasn't rained for a long time. We wrote predictions from the front cover and we wrote in role as Lila.

Maths

We have been subtracting 2-digit numbers from 2-digit numbers with exchange. We have used Base 10 equipment and represented the 10s and 1s by drawing lines and dots.

Art

The children used nature and objects from around the classroom to create seed, root and shoot sculptutres.

They were very creative and explored manipulating the materials by folding, twisting or bending.

Forest School

We noticed many changes in the nature area. Bluebells and forget-me-knots are growing and the daffodils have died away.

Geography

The children learnt a lot of facts about Nigeria and created super fact files.

History

Our new topic is Kings, Queens and Castles.

We found out about the different parts of a castle and labelled our own.

R.E

We read Luke's Gospel story of the Ascension and thought about how the disciples felt. We will retell the story in our own words next week.
