Year 3 Blog Friday 1st July
Date: 30th Jun 2022 @ 6:50pm
Happy Friday everyone!
We have had a lovely week in Year 3. Lots of us enjoyed a dance and a boogie at the summer disco.
We have enjoyed our new maths learning this week. We learned how to use partitioning to help us to bridge 10 more easily and lots of us have been practising our skills on Sumdog. Well done Year 3!
We have started our new topics in PSHE, DT and science.
In PSHE we have been thinking about why it is important to keep active and sleep well. We talked about how exercise can make us feel happy and confident.
In science we are going to be learning all about plants. So far we have told each other what we already know and then we went outside to look closely at the plants in our school grounds. We sketched and labelled what we could see. We are looking forward to carrying out some investigations to find out more about plants.
Our DT topic is all about a healthy and varied diet. We looked at some products from supermarkets to find out what ingredients they had in them. We discussed how healthy they were by looking at the different food groups. We are going to use our evaluations to plan and make our own healthy afternoon tea. Have a look at our gallery here.
Home Practice
Reading
Read out loud to somebody for 20 minutes every night. Talk about what you have read and retell the story in your own words. We know how much our Year 3s love their reading. Here is a huge list of recommended reads for children aged 7-8.
Counting
Count in:
8s from 0 to 96 and back again.
10s from 63 to 163 and back again.
50s from 0 to 500 and back again.
Sumdog
Go on Sumdog and complete the challenges, these are to practise times tables, spellings and skills that we will be practising in our learning.
Times Tables
Practise the division facts for the 4x tables.
Spellings
Here are the spellings for this week: science scene discipline fascinate cresent scissors ascend scented scenery descend
DT
Start to think about the different ingredients you would find in an afternoon tea. Look at sandwiches, wraps, fruit, and snacks in shops and cafes. Think about which you like the look of and which you think are healthy.
Have a wonderful weekend!
