Year 3 Blog - Friday 24th June
Date: 24th Jun 2022 @ 12:11pm
HAPPY FRIDAY!
We have had a very hot and very exciting week in Year 3.
In our maths learning we have been using a column method to add, subtract and find missing numbers. It has been really tricky but everybody has persevered and done a fantastic job. The Sumdog challenges this week will help us to practise these skills.
In English we have been writing about trolls and about Quidditch in Harry Potter. We described the trolls (they are not very nice creatures), wrote instructions for how to defeat a troll and made a leaflet all about Quidditch.
We did some orienteering in our PE lesson which was great fun! We all got into pairs and worked together to navigate around a course using a map. We had to follow a route around different cones and add up the numbers written on the cones. We also practised throwing and catching and batting in our rounders games.
On Friday afternoon we painted our clay models of canopic jars. We then put out our clay models alongside replicas of ancient Egyptian artefacts and had our own little museum in class. We acted like historians and used the artefacts to learn what life was like in ancient Egyptian times. Check out the galleries on the class page.
Online Saftey Update - Live Streaming
Many of our children access YouTube and TikTok as their primary source of online content. Live streamers are becoming ever more popular with children and young people.
Live streaming is the term used to describe the broadcast of a real time video from a mobile device, tablet or games console. Many live streaming apps have functionality for interactions from viewers, such as commenting, live chats and sending reactions during the broadcast.
In this guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as online grooming, privacy & security and online reputation. Also, be aware of age ratings on any platforms you allow your children to use.
