Year 3 Blog Friday 25th February 2022
Date: 25th Feb 2022 @ 1:12pm
We have had a great first week back after Half Term and have done so much learning already.
In maths we have been learning to tell the time to the nearest 5 minutes. We used an app on the iPads for extra practice called 'What's the time Mr Wolf?'.
We have also been placing numbers on a number line and using this to round to the nearest 100. Next week in maths we are going to be adding and subtracting.
In English we have read some more of The Butterfly Lion. We wrote a letter as one of the characters talking about our time in the trenches. The language we used by finding good words in the book was fantastic.
In geography we have been learning about different biomes in Africa. We defined a biome as:
A large region with its own distinct climate, plants and animals.
We have used maps and fact files to find out about the different biomes in Africa.
We have started our new topic in PSHE. It is called 'What makes a community?' So far. we have spoken about the different groups and communities that we belong to.
This week we have also started the design stage of our DT mechanisms project. We are choosing a picture from a story we know to bring 'to life'. Everyone showed great creativity and perserverance with their first designs.
