HAPPY HALF TERM EVERYBODY!!
We have really enjoyed the last week of this half term, we have been very busy.
We loved reading our Harry Potter stories to Year 4 on Monday. They were really impressed with our good vocabulary, our neat handwriting and our inverted commas (speech marks) for speech. We have continued reading Harry Potter, we have learnt about Hogwarts, some of the teachers, witches and wizards, and the houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin). We wrote our own poem about the Sorting Hat using words from the book, and we wrote some dialogue including lots of different characters getting sorted into their house.
For our maths this week we have been learning about fractions. We have been finding fractions of a shape, comparing and ordering fractions, and also finding equivalent fractions. We used a diagram of a bar to recognise that 1/2 is the same as 2/4. We did this with other fractions too.
On Wednesday everybody dressed in red, white and blue and we celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. It was a great day! Click here to see how much fun we had.
On Thursday we went to church. Father Michael said he was really impressed with our listening and the way we answered questions.
On Friday we learnt about mummification in the ancient egyptian times. We learnt about their beliefs in the afterlife and the canopic jars they used to preserve organs of the bodies. We sketched and started to make our own canopic jars out of clay.
Online Safety Update
This week, our update is focused on keeping children safe when accessing online content. A lot of platforms that our children use are dependent on uploaded content. Due to the sheer number of videos added to these sites, moderators find it almost impossible to stop all harmful or distressing content from reaching your phone or tablet screens. The guide below outlines ways in which you as parents and carers can limit the risk.
We hope you have an amazing half term and we can't wait to see you for your final half term in Year 3.
