Times tables and Number facts

Please practise your individual tables target to help you learn them and become more fluent.

You can practise your tables on Hit the Button and timestables.co.uk

Please also practise your number facts.

You can practise your number facts on Hit the Button

It is crucial that you learn all of your table facts and your number facts as this will help you with many aspects of maths.

Sumdog challenges

  • A spelling challenge – based on the Year 3 / 4 spellings listed above
  • A times tables challenge based on the 11 times tables
  • A multiplication and division challenge - based on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables

In English, we learnt what alliteration meant (the repetition of a sound at the beginning of two or more neighbouring words).  We then wrote a poem which included alliteration.

In Maths, we learnt the formal written method of division – chunking.  We practised the chunking method when there was no remainder left, and when there was.

In RE, we discussed the meaning of Advent (Advent means arrival) and how Christians prepare for Jesus’ birth during Advent. In addition, we learnt about Gaudete Sunday which is the third Sunday of Advent (Gaudete means rejoice) and listened to Philippians 4: 4-9 which reminds us to be joyful at this time.

In Science, we looked at diagrams of circuits and decided whether a circuit was complete or incomplete. We then made the circuits and explained why they would or would not work.

In our PSHE lesson, we identified situations as inclusion or discrimination and then produced our own Clips video on the ipads to explain / show the difference.

This week we were also:

  • involved in the Santa Dash - many thanks for all your sponsor money
  • visited by the Dogs Trust - Sam and Duke taught us how to keep ourselves safe around dogs
  • visited by Rock Steady - a rock band who will be providing 'Rock band' tuition after February half term (a letter has been sent home today)

Have a look at the DT gallery of our finished ‘Iron’ models.
