TTRockstars challenge
- A ‘garage’ session
Sumdog challenges
- A spelling challenge based on the words above
- A maths challenge based on the formal written method of column subtraction
In English, we extended our learning about about subordinating contractions and practised using them at the beginning of a sentence. We needed to remember to include a comma after the subordinate clause. Have a look at some ‘human sentences’ in our gallery. GARETH
In Maths, we revised and learnt more about the formal written method of subtraction. We subtracted 4 digit numbers from 4 digit numbers, including exchanging.
In RE, we read 1 Kings 19 Verses 4-15 about Elijah’s encounter and meeting with God. Following this, we retold and recreated the story using symbols.
In Science, we recognised that environments can change and that this can pose dangers to living things. We also discussed environmental changes which are caused by humans, for example, pollution, climate change and littering.
In P.S.H.E, we consolidated our learning about the 3 parts of the brain – the hippocampus, amygdala and the prefrontal cortex (team H-A-P). We then learnt what real and perceived danger is and what triggers our amygdala. You will have received a letter today with the newsletter showing you how to access the parent resources.
In Art, we started our new topic ‘Exploring Pattern’. We started by making a sensory drawing using a needle.
This week we were also visited by Freddy Fit. We enjoyed being put through our paces with fun workouts, and learning how to keep our minds and bodies fit and healthy. Have a look at some pictures in our gallery.
On Thursday, we were also extremely lucky to work with Gareth Walker, a sports journalist. We were introduced to Keely Hodgkinson and watched a video of her winning Gold in the 800m final at the Olympics this year. Following this, and with the help of Gareth, we wrote our own newspaper report about the event. Gareth will be working with us over the next few weeks, so that we can refine our journalistic skills. You can see some pictures in our gallery.
Thank you for supporting Children in Need - we all looked fabulous in our pyjamas / spotty outfits.
Have a super weekend
