This week's learning
In English, we wrote a humorous piece about the first day back after the Easter holiday and how everything had changed! In addition, we learnt what an expanded noun phrase is and practised building our own phrases.
In Maths, we learnt how to add and subtract using a number line. First, we used a number line to help us bridge though a multiple of 10 efficiently. Then, we used a mental compensating strategy when the number we were adding or subtracting had a 9 in the ones place.
This week, we also practised finding fractions of amount using counters and pictorial representations. Have a look at the pictures in our gallery.
In RE, we started our new topic – To the ends of the Earth – during which we will learn about the spread of the Gospel and the mission of the Church. We began the topic by listening to John 20:1-10 which tells of the resurrection of Jesus. We then retold the story in pictures and words. You can see some pictures in our gallery.
In addition, we explored Peter’s interactions with Jesus by examining various Bible passages and then reflected on the highs and lows of Peter’s faith journey.
In Computing, we continued our ‘audio production’ topic by recording sound and then editing it effectively. We recorded ourselves speaking and them trimmed, moved and deleted parts of the recording to make it more effective.
In Geography, we started our new topic – Greece. We began by using an atlas to identify the 7 continents. We then named different countries within Europe, including Greece.
In History, we began our new topic – Ancient Greeks. We discovered who they were, where they came from and when. We also created a timeline of key events during this historical period.
On Friday, we took part in a yoga session. During the session, we learnt some different breathing techniques - for relaxation and for energy - as well as practising some strength poses.
Take a look in our gallery.
