Home Practice

Reading

Read out loud every day for 20 minutes. Talk about your impression of each character. 

Spelling

Everybody has brought home their own spellings this week. Please practise using one of the strategies we have used in class. One of the favourite strategies was trace, copy, replicate. 

There is also a Sumdog challenge to practise the words you need to know by the end of Year 5. 

Counting

Count out loud in:

12s from 0 to 144 and back again.          12, 24, 36, ...

9s from 0 to 108 and back again.             9, 18, 27, ... 

6s from 0 to 72 and back again.                6, 12, 18, ...

Times Tables

Please practise the 12x table or your own individual target.

On Thursday 21st December we will be having our Australian themed celebration. Children are invited to come in Australian themed clothing. Please see the letter brought home last week for more information.

After Half Term, children will need spare shoes and socks for cross country in PE. 

Maths

We learnt about multiples, factors and common factors. 

12 is a multiple of 4. 

4 is a factor of 12. 

3 is a common factor of 12 and 15. 

English

We used The Highwayman poem to create our own booklet, we also created some artwork to go with it. 

RE

We learnt about Advent and Christmas for Christians and created posters. 

PSHE

We started our new topic - What decisions can people make with money?
