Reading
Read out loud every day for 20 minutes. Look at how speech is used. Try to use good expression when reading speech. Next week we will be writing a character description from our new book. If you have a character that you like, bring your book into school.
Spelling
Here are your spellings this week. They are words which have apostrophes for contraction. This means a word or group of words have been shortened. The apostrophe represents missing letters. It is important that you remember to put the apostrophe in the right place.

We have had a wonderful week this week.
In English, we wrote two different adverts to persuade different audiences. The first was an advert to persuade children to go to the circus. The second was an advert to persuade an adult to donate money to a charity which helps animals. The language we used was very different in each advert as they had different audiences and different purposes. We also recorded our adverts and used our voices as an additional way to persuade our audience. We tested out our circus adverts on Years 2, 3 and 6 who gave us a star rating for how likely they were to go to the circus after hearing our advert. There were lots of 7/7 ratings.
In Maths, we calculated the area of different shapes and also solved problems involving time. This included converting between 12-hour and 24-hour times and reading analogue and digital clocks. If you are not confident with reading the time, please practise at home this week.
In RE we made links between the Passover and the Last Supper. We discussed how Jesus would have celebrated the Passover each year to celebrate his people being freed from slavery. We also discussed how the Last Supper was a very special Passover feast as this was when Jesus knew he was going to die, and was the first time Jesus turned the wine into his blood and the bread into his body.
In art, we started our new topic about landscapes. Throughout the topic we will be using different media to create pictures of landscapes. These will include pencil, ink, paint, charcoal, pastels, etc. This week we used different sketching pencils. Everybody did such a fantastic job.
