Sumdog have just launched a new fluency booster that is automatically available when your child signs into the app. This feature will direct you to skills that your child needs to improve on to boost their number fluency and will automatically update to meet their fluency needs.
We advise that your child spends at least 10 minutes a day on their booster feature as well as completing the maths focus and times tables challenges.
We have had a super learning week in Year 5.
In English, we have been practising using direct speech in our writing. We also debated the character’s actions in the novel. Everyone is enjoying Varjak Paw.
In Maths we identified factor pairs and learnt the divisibility rules of numbers. It’s been a lot to learn, but we rose to the challenge superbly. It’s lovely to see us all trying our best.
This week in RE, we reminded ourselves of Jesus’ temptations during his 40 days in the desert and we discussed the temptations we face too!
In geography we started to learn about earthquakes: what they are, where they happen and why. We also established that they don’t really happen in our country as we are not sitting on a plate boundary!
Finally, we all embraced World Book Day by coming to school dressed as a character. We also had a lovely visit from Tom, who used to work at Longton library, to talk about ideas for this summer’s reading challenge.
