Times Tables

Please practise your times tables.  There is a competition on between Year 4 and year 5. Good luck Year 5 – the more people that join in the better chance we have of winning!

Sumdog

Maths practise based on measurement– individual challenge.

Spelling Challenge – practise sheets have been sent home and there is a practise test on Sumdog.

Sumdog have just launched a new fluency booster that is automatically available when your child signs into the app. This feature will direct you to skills that your child needs to improve on to boost their number fluency and will automatically update to meet their fluency needs.

We advise that your child spends at least 10 minutes a day on their booster feature as well as completing the maths focus and times tables challenges.

We have had a great learning week in Year 5.

Year 5 have been focussing on writing about characters from the novel this week and have done a great job of comparing and contrasting two characters from our Varjak Paw novel. They have also done an outstanding job in this week’s spelling tests with everyone showing a significant improvement. Well done!

In Maths, we have been examining and applying different methods in multiplication and division. Year 5 are now moving on to recollecting knowledge on measurement facts.

This week in RE, the whole class has been focussing on prayer in Lent and they have discussed and debated what it is to follow your conscience, as well as writing some beautiful personal prayers of thanks.

In music, Miss Campbell has been most impressed with the raps that have been created by the class. There is clearly a lot of musical talent!

Year 5 have also been getting interactive with databases and learning to sort records, using search fields.

Finally, the class were lucky enough to all enjoy a silent disco this week and show off their dancing skills! Well done Year 5!
