Please practise your times tables and division.  There is a new task set up on TTRS for children to access.

Sumdog

Maths practise based on addition and subtraction – individual challenge.

Spelling Challenge – practise sheets have been sent home and there is a practise test on Sumdog.

Sumdog have just launched a new fluency booster that is automatically available when your child signs into the app. This feature will direct you to skills that your child needs to improve on to boost their number fluency and will automatically update to meet their fluency needs.

We advise that your child spends at least 10 minutes a day on their booster feature as well as completing the maths focus and times tables challenges.

We have had another great learning week in Year 5.

In English, Year 5 had a fabulous week full of poetry – everyone wrote and performed some amazing poems. We have a lot of very talented poets! We also started reading our new novel  - Varjak Paw.

Varjak Paw: 1: Amazon.co.uk: Said, SF, McKean, Dave: 9780552572293: Books

In Maths we practised lots of different ways to complete addition and subtraction calculations. Well done Year 5!

This week in RE, we explored symbols relating to Ash Wednesday and thought about the meaning of Lent, which starts next week.

In PSHE we talked about different medicines and drugs, especially the contents of cigarettes and vapes. The children were very knowledgeable about this and we had lots of conversation about the negative effect they can have on physical health.

In Science, we started our new topic about animals and human life cycles. We compared an average human life span to that of other mammals.

Well done Year 5 - a super week with lots of learning!
