We had a really fun week, fantastic effort Year 6.

Home Practice

Reading

Please enjoy reading a good book for up to 30 minutes every evening.

Spelling

When reading, if you come across any new words that you don’t understand, ask an adult or look them up in the dictionary.

Building up your vocabulary knowledge is really beneficial, so make a list of good words that you could use in your own writing.

The 1,000-year-old Boy : Welford, Ross: Amazon.co.uk: Books

In English, we are still enjoying our novel The 1000 year old Boy by Ross Welford.

In Art, we started a mini-project where we will be making shadow puppets. We created visual notes to help gather our ideas, made a short storyboard and drew our puppets in preparation for making them next week.

In History, we learnt about what happened in the years leading up to WWII and about what Germany is like now. We sorted some European countries into a table, deciding if they were democracies or dictatorships.

PE - we enjoyed a game of rounders.

In Music, we sang the songs for our Bugsy Malone production. You will find them in the documents at the bottom of the blog dated 24th May (paper copies were also given). Please keep learning the words thoroughly!

Drama - We spent a lot of time rehearsing and singing the songs. It's going well!

Forest School

This week we made s'mores. We remembered how to keep safe around the fire and we were invited to toast our marshmallow. We then sandwiched our marshmallow in between some biscuits and chocolate buttons. We also made some stick art using wool and pipe cleaners. Some of use had a go at lighting a fire using a flint and steel.

  #30 Days Wild

As a school we are going to take part in a celebration of everything nature has to offer. This is an initiative set up by The Wildlife Trust. In June, we will be providing opportunities for all children to experience and learn about the wildlife on their doorstep, helping to nurture happier, healthier children, and create allies for our precious natural neighbours.

Super Learning Day was a great success. Year 6 joined in with a variety of fun activities, they were fantastic team leaders and looked after their groups so well.
